It's starting to look a bit creepy around here...

I told myself months ago that I WOULD NOT make Halloween crafts BEFORE October 1st. Well... so much for that! In all honesty I could not help myself. I was in the dollar tree yesterday, looking for potential craft items for the new Girl Scout troop I got suckered into Co-Lead.  And well I sorta stumbled upon some awesome mason jars, and what can I say... Mason jars always have a soft spot in my crafty little heart. They are just so cute and you can turn them into just about anything! Annnnnd it just so happened that the glass candle holders were riiiiiiight next to them on the shelf....honestly, I think someone at dollar tree is setting me up LOL! So who could resit right? So I bought those, some candy corn and some cheap creepy crawlies for the inside and WAH-LA! Instant cute decorative candy jars for Halloween! :)

And if that all wasn't enough... I decided to make a new fall wreath for my front door. Don't worry... I still have my fabulous eyeball Halloween wreath from last year that I will hang up when it gets closer to Halloween. I just wanted to make one that I could keep up for after Halloween and all through the month of November. :)

Recycled Notebooks Craft

In honor of girl scouts thinking day (which was Feb. 22nd 2012) munchkin and I did a fun little recycle project. We took boxes from foods around the house, like cereal boxes, pizza boxes, fruit snack boxes and even poptart boxes and made notebooks out of them using the boxes as front and back covers! They are so easy to make and the kiddo loves them! She loves the idea that she can write a "story" about her favorite foods on the front LOL! I love that she is writing, being creative and of course recycling!

I know... your probably thinking... when did she turn into such a hippy?! Well, to be truthful a part of me always has been green, I just don't show it as much. I'm not totally extreme like some who only bathe once a week because they want to conserve water, but I try to do my part. We recycle at home for various things, and I also recycle on base with a container called "Greenopolis" they are a small'ish company that has a few containers in bigger cities (and working to make more in other cities) that you can take your recyclable bottles to and they will actually reward you in coupons and movie tickets for recycling! YEAH! That's right... REWARDS for recycling!


So yeah recycling rocks! And the munchkin had loads of fun helping me cut out the cardboard and paper to put in between. I then stapled the tops up to make it "flip" style and walah! Instant notebook! You can make them however you want or even decorate them too! The best part... when they are full and used up, you can always recycle the paper & cardboard again ;)

Oh and speaking of recycling! I picked up THE BEST pair of flip flops I think I've ever owned yesterday! We got our tax refund back (YAY!) and went on our shopping spree for new family spring/summer wardrobes. Among the loads of stuff I bought, I got these awesome Sanuk flip flops from Carnival shoe store. They are insanely comfy! I feel like I am quite literally walking on air... and it's because they are made out of a yoga mat! Yup! Check them out online at www.sanuk.com or you can also find them at shoes.com or zappos.com. College, Infertility and Christmas Crafts!

I compltely understand now why people do no go to college! They make it impossible to pay for! Holy craaaaaaaaap! I am just so compeltely frustrated with begging the government to pay for my classes... I haven't even started a class yet and college is a big pain in the rear! I hope this is all worth it in the end... that's all I can say LOL! Seriously though... I am using Federal Student Aid for the first time annnnnnd MYCAA for the first time... I think they are both confused at the fact that I am trying to use both... but hey, can you blame me? It's FREE money! Just sitting there! Waiting for me to use it... but, they don't make it easy to get. I feel like I have jumped through every hoop possible in order to get the money. I have played phone tag with financial advisers and email'ed to death military assistance specialists. And all I can say is... what a mess! I hope to god this all gets straitened out before my class starts NEXT MONDAY! O.o

In other news... I am not pregnant... yup, AF just reared her ugly head on Thanksgiving! :P It is always my luck that she shows up either on a holiday or while on vacation (espeically when the destination involves a bathing suit) Soooo... it is back to the ole drawing board (AGAIN) I called my RE's nurse this morning and now I'm waiting on a call or e-mail back about what our next move is gonna be. Time is running out fast before hubby deploys so we gotta move fast. :( To be honest, I am looking forward to the break. It also wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be emotionally. I don't know if its because of all the excitement that was going on with Thanksgiving or what but I am pretty much in a relatively good mood, despite the bad news, and for that I am greatful. It's a roller coaster I tell ya... hopefully this is the "up" part!

The kiddo is back at school today and I am home... all alone... all by myself... ♪ ♫"don't wanna be... all byyyyyyy myself..."♪ ♫ oops LOL! It was nice seeing her not be as eager to go off to school this morning... don't get me wrong, I mean... I like that she goes but it was nice knowing she rather spend the time with mommy :) Mission accomplished! We did do some pretty awesome stuff this week! One of which was playing with salt dough! Super easy to make and waaaaaay cheaper than buying clay! Also safe around other children or pets who might eat it by accident! You just take 2 cups of flour, 2 cups of salt and 1 cup of water and mix in a big bowl. You can add a little water here and there if you need to, depending on the kind of texture you want. Then knead it for a while till it becomes the consistency of "play dough". Shape into whatever you want and then put it on a pan and bake it in the oven at 250 degrees for a few hours (more hours if its a huge item). We made Christmas ornaments this time out of the dough. A snowman, a butterfly and a cupcake. The kiddo shaped them and then we baked them for a few hours and then we painted them together.

I think they turned out awesome, if I do say so myself! ;)

Back to our regularly blogging program.

I dunno about you guys but I feel like this past week has been a whirl wind! I can't believe its already Tuesday! And I thought last year went by fast, this year is bound to prove me wrong... We have had an awesome New Years, spent at my In-Laws house. We had dinner with hubs friends from high school and later champagne and fireworks! (Don't worry its safe, I'm not preggers yet.)
Speaking of that, I have called my doctor and he is currently on his guard duty! Goooooo figure! So he will be out of the office for the next 2 weeks, I have left a message with the nurse and they say he will call me back... ha! We shall see...

We drove home on Sunday... and it was a looooooong drive. Nearly 7 1/2 hours. I was just greatful that the munchkin was well entertained, somewhere along the long drives from Oklahoma to Florida to Georgia to Mississippi and back again I have figured out a mass of items that will entertain her. Just call me Yoda of road trips! LOL!

So since we've been home I have been vacuuming, laundering, dish washing, tidying, and SEWING! ZOMG! Do I just loooooooove my new sewing machine... I can tell already that her and I are on our way of becoming BFF's! I have made two projects already (just today!) Woohoo! Yeah I'm on a roll! Wanna see what I made? They aren't anything crazy award winning, but I like them! Oh, and those of you who voted for me during the dollar tree flair for crafts project... I sincerely thank you! I did not win any of the prizes, however I do appreciate all your votes and going out of your way to give me the shot at winning :)

So on to my goodies... cause I know you all are just dieing to see them...lol!

This little cutesie cuppy cake apron is my first project with the sewing machine.

This would be my second project of the day... a tea wallet for me mum :)

This is what the inside looks like. Its basically a little accessories for tea on the go. You can store your little tea bags in this handy dandy wallet and then toss the wallet in your purse. My mom drinks tea every morning at work so I figured this would be perfect for her! I cant wait to send it to her... I'm also thinking of making one for myself, I have a bit of the fabric left over and I only used half of a big fat quarter... just need to get a little bit more of interfacing. :D

Hope you liked my projects, I think the next thing I'm gonna work on is my .45 cal earrings... better get the dremel out ;)

Coffee Filter Snowflakes!!!

Cute right? And sooooo easy to make! No seriously, try it! I just took a plain coffee filter and folded it in half and then folded it again and started cutting away with the scissors, and look how cute they came out. You really cant go wrong with any way you cut, so long as you fold it right. Basically the object is to make it look like a triangle. When I had all of them done I took a bit of sticky laminate and laminated them. I made a set for each of the grandparents and I'm keeping the rest :)

Oh and that thing they are hanging on it is my Christmas card holder... its made to look like Christmas lights. I just cut the lights out of leftover felt scraps I had laying around and then hot glued them to clothes pins, strung it up and Whala!
