Last Tuesday was the artist reception for the Artful August show here at the Villages at Leesburg. I didn't end up winning anything but it was still very nice to go and be apart of something. It was also really great to be among other artist and feed my artistic soul with good inspiration. It's been quite a while since I've had my "art" in the spotlight... it's been pretty much since high school LOL! It was nice to be appreciated again. The hubby snapped a few pics of my "big moment" and I was happy he was proud of me :)

Young at Art
I have to be honest and say that my fridge is getting full... and its not of just food. It's that little Picasso of mine... the budding artist, she loves to draw and paint and do all kinds of crafty stuff with paper. Gee, I wonder where she gets it from? ;) So I decided to make a board to display her work. She loves it of course, because she has a space of her own (right in the dining room) to show all her friends (and some of ours too) her cool stuff. I can't hide the fact that I'm down right proud of her getting more and more interested in Art. I'm almost thinking I should be planning a trip soon to a gallery some where... There might just be another day trip to NOLA in our future. :)The board is more of that pressed wood that I just happen to have an abundancy of since the hubs made his speaker boxes for the vette. I just painted it with plain acrylic white paint and then splattered the crap outta it with various other colors. I then free hand painted the "Artist Row" part and hot glued some plastic clothes pins to the bottom of the board and Ta-Da! We've got a great new place to hang memories. :)
This is my favorite "piece" shes done lately... its of the fall trees (that are non existent here in Mississippi). Mommy is on the left, Daddy is on the Right and she is in the middle. When I asked her what the big black spot in the middle of each tree was she said; "The belly button!" and then said; "Duh Mommy!" I don't think I ever have laughed so hard in my life! LMAO!

30 Days of Me: Day 16 & 17
Onto day 17: An Art Piece
And that my friends I can share... In fact, I'll share a little secret... I am an artist! Have been and always will be. My love for art started in high school as a freshman. I took every art class I could, was in portfolio art club and took advanced placement honors portfolio art classes. In fact I graduated high school with top honors in art and language. Ok... enough tooting of my own horn LOL. These days I don't get to do alot of my own work... instead I let the munchkin work on her masterpieces. I'm so glad shes taking such a big interest in art. She is her mothers daughter after all. :D So here's some Ive done in high school and some I've done in the past couple of years.

It depicts the city at night and dawn.
This one doesn't have a title exactly but, it does profess my love for art and geek perfectly.
Its both a painting and a functional light. There are 6 yellow LED's connected by battery operated circuit on the back and a side switch. Here's what it looks like at night...

Hope you've enjoyed the show :)
