A visit from the brother-in-law.

Now that hubby is home from deployment the Air Force decided it's time to deploy the other family member. Yup, that's right... my brother in law will soon be off to his deployment. The bright side to this was that they also sent him TDY for a few weeks here to us in Keesler/Biloxi MS. It was really great to see him, since we haven't seen him since he PCS'ed to Germany a few years ago. Hubby coming home and his brother coming here also prompted a visit from my in-laws that was also nice. It was great having everyone under one roof again, and getting out and doing things as a family. I just wish it could have been for more cheerful reasons other than getting ready for a deployment. Hopefully his deployment will go by just as fast. But while he was here we had a good time and tried to make the most of our time together. :)

We all went glow bowling and lazer tagging one night and here are some of the results from it...
Me and the brother I never had. :)
Of course after a few rounds of bowling here was our result LOL!
Me and the hubby (can you see the family resemblance between him and his brother??)
The kiddo having a good time bowling and dancing to the music videos lol!

Florida DMV and Family Time

We are home again, after spending our long weekend in Jacksonville visiting my in-laws and trying to get our Florida drivers licenses back. Hubby was able to get his, I on the other hand am a different story... apparently Florida no longer takes just a copy of your birth certificate... no, they need the real deal. Mine also is not that easy to get either, since its an "American born abroad" certificate :( I actually have to go to immigration to get a copy of it, I also have to have proof of when I entered the country 24 years ago! I know... WTF! That's what I said too... so I guess I am stuck with a Mississippi drivers license for a while longer. Booooo! On the more positive side, the whole weekend was not a total loss. We did get to go visit hubby's Grandma, it was her birthday and she turned 86, she's only 5 years younger than my gram. It was also nice that hubby got to see ALL of his uncles & aunts (even the ones that had to come from Ashville, NC) before he will leave at that *uncertain* time and date ;) We had good food, and great people to spend the day with and even though it rained pretty much all day we still had an excellent time! I am glad to be home now, though... I've got a ton of laundry to do and stuff around the house to catch up on. I love going home to Florida but, I sure do hate driving it! It feels like it takes forever! Oh and Ace did GREAT on his first long car tip, not even a peep out of him! I was so thrilled! :D

Proudly Presenting "Ace"!

I am proud to introduce you to our newest member of the Mc'C family!
This cute little guy is "Ace"!

We rescued/adopted him from the South Mississippi Humane Society yesterday.
Don't ask me how on earth I talked my husband into getting him for us. I wasn't even really looking to have a dog, I mean we talked about having one and then came up with a ton of reasons why we shouldn't. We've gone round and round on the subject for probably a good 2-3 years now. However, yesterday I found this little guys cute face in an email that the Humane Society sent me, he was on the list of lonely hearts, which means he has been at the shelter for over 30 days and that also put him in danger of being put down. There is no way (after looking at him) I could ever let that happen! When I saw his face in that email something just clicked! He I could tell from that instant he needed me and I needed him and the rest is history...

He is the perfect little baby boy Dachshund anyone could ask for too! He's about a year and 3 months old, he weigh's in just at about 10lbs (a little on the skinny side but we plan on fattening him up with good food and yummy treats) and he's approximately 30 inches long (nose to tail). He walks on a leash perfectly, he is house broken already, he never barks and the munchkin can do just about anything with him and he doesn't care. He is so loveable and hug-able! I think he just needed someone to love him.

So after $100 bucks, some begging, some pleading, a essay and spreadsheet of costs & expenses later he was mine! lol! I have never been so happy to be a dog owner again :)

Weekend in Florida

We had a great weekend, and a great time hanging out with the family in Florida! We left for our trip last Thursday and my brother & sister in law flew in from Germany on Friday night. Our weekend was spent eating home-made BBQ, Lounging in the Florida sun by the pool and eating more home-made BBQ (courtesy of my father in law) lol! Sunday we got up and headed to the shooting range, we did end up bringing our small arsenal of guns with us and it was great to shoot our new ones! I have found that the .380 Ruger hubby bought me is going to take some practice in holding, because its so small (its meant to be a conceal and carry weapon) but I do love the crimson trace laser on it! I was completely surprised at how much I LOOOOOOOOOOVE shooting the AR-15! Its amazing! I feel very confident in my shots and completely comfortable with it, its also very easy to load the mag and super easy on the trigger. I basically told hubby that I will be wanting a AR-15 for Christmas this year and possibly a few accessories (it IS the barbie doll of guns!) In case you all are wondering... they look like this...

The Ruger .380 with Crimson Trace Laser

The AR-15 with military tactical rails and sights (aka. amazing zombie slayer!)

I think its safe to say if there is ever a zombie epidemic, we will be safe for a while. :) In fact...
hubby made sure to buy more ammo to replace the ammo we took with us, juuuuust in case any of those flesh eating, brain sucking, rotting corpses popped up on I-10 while driving home. LOL! I call him paranoid, he calls himself prepared... LOL! All in all it was a good trip, I was glad to see my in law's (all of them) and glad I had a chance to go to my favorite little book store (Chamblin Bookmine and don't worry... I'll share my finds with you in another post) and a discover a new comic book shop downtown! Hope you all had an amazing weekend too!

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In

1. What are some things on your bucket list? (from New Girl on Post)

I need to actually sit down and write out my bucket list but some of the things off the top of my head are; Visit Africa and climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Own my own Suzuki GS500 (its my favorite kind of bike), To spend at least a week on the beaches of Phuket Island Thailand... its so beautiful there... (that's where they filmed the movie the beach!) Be in movie (even if its just as an extra) and Own a home that has secret passages and secret rooms!

2. How long have you been a MilSpouse and where have you been stationed so far? (from Raising Roscoe)

I have been a MilSpouse for 4 years :D We have been stationed together at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City Oklahoma, Fort Gordon Army Post in Augusta Georgia, and Keesler AFB in Biloxi Mississippi. I feel fortunate to have experienced living in all these different places, I loved them all for different reasons. I loved Oklahoma because it was so far away from where I have always lived... it was my first time moving away from my home state in Florida. The climate was soooo different and I LOOOOOOVED shopping there LOL! I loved Georgia because I made some of the best friends I will ever have there, I loved fall there, its so beautiful and colorful! And I love Keesler because I love my house here... its brand new and by far the best Ive ever lived in. Ive made great friends here, I have a good spouses group here... the commanders wife rocks, shes just like one of the girls and not at all like some of the stuck up ones Ive met before... bottom line I feel very comfortable around her. Oh and the BEACH! LOL!

3. What is a list of songs that sums up your life so far? (from Confessions of a Sailor’s Wife)

ZOMG! There is just too many to name... maybe later I'll put together Jess's soundtrack... but for now there's just too many. Im sure more than half of them are old punk songs LMAO!

4. What is your favorite kind of pizza?

Oooh either... Buffalo Chicken, NYC White (like my cousin Mike makes... yes, I have a "Pauly D" Jersey Shore type cousin in the family-- hes by marriage so don't hold it against me LMAO!)
or a pizza with mushrooms, black olives, green olives and ham on it! YUM!

5. What are three good things in your life right now?

My Family, My Health and that were all doing ok... so many other people have so much less and I'm just thankful that I am so lucky.

Super Easy and Cheap Faux Antique Family Name Sign

I decided to get crafty today and make a family name sign. I've always wanted one and I had just recently discovered a whole bunch of left over particle board, courtesy of the hubbers from when he was building his speaker boxes for the vette. So I grabbed a few pieces of choice board and with jigsaw in hand began to whip up my sign.

After I had finished cutting the jagged edges I spray painted the board black with the left over spray paint I had from my halloween candelabra. I let it dry for a bout an hour and then I ran a few nails over the glossy paint to give it that old "weathered" look. I then searched the depths of the internet for the perfect font. And came up with "four score" from; 1001 free fonts.com I blew it up and traced it with plain white paper to make my stencil.

I then rubbed a bit of the munchkins old sidewalk chalk on the back of my stencil, flipped it over, taped it and then began to trace over the stencils. (The chalk will leave a perfect outline of the letters without having to cut the paper... so much easier, just dont blow the chalk away LOL!)

After that I carefully peeled back the tape, removing the stencil and began to paint in my outline with a white pain pen. Suuuuuuuuper easy!

I let it dry, sprayed on some clear varnish, nailed in two frame hooks on the back, looped some twine through and TA-DA! Super easy and cheap faux antique family sign was done!

**Please forgive me for blacking out part of our last name... its for privacy. Not that I don't trust my readers... its the anonymous stalkers I worry about LOL!**
