30 Days of Me: Day 29

Hopes and dreams for the next 365 days

I have one hope, one dream and one wish for this next year, it's to have a baby. I hope to get pregnant, have a safe delivery and for that baby to grow up and be a great person. I promise to not complain about tiredness, sore boobies, backaches, headaches, morning sickness or stretch marks. I will trade all that for 10 fingers, 10 toes, a healthy mind and heart I will endure the pain and laboring and long nights to come for the innocence of a smile and the sweetness of a coo. I promise to be a good mommy and dedicate my life to the caring and supporting of my baby. I hope, I dream, I wish for the day to come when I can say... finally... that I'm gonna have a baby.

30 Days of Me: Day 28

This year in great detail

Again, I'd have to say it has flown by! I can't believe next month we will have been in our house here in Biloxi a whole year! Good grief Charley Brown where has the time gone? We have done sooo much. I am thankful that I got my CNA certification and license, even though I don't use it... yet... I'm waiting till the munchkin starts school and if I haven't had a baby by then I'll go back to work. I am thankful that I could have another year off from working to be with her. I truly am gonna miss these days... she is growing up waaaaaaay to fast for me, and as hubs likes to put it... time to have another one. I am thankful he was able to go to Pensacola and have his surgery done, that alone has been a long and weary road we have traveled with lots of heartache along the route but we made it... I hope upon all hope that we are able to have a child and at least before I'm 30, that is my biggest wish... I know how much the munchkin wants a brother or a sister (and sometimes both... woah lol!) and I just hope I can give it to her. I am thankful that he got HIS baby (the vette) he truly loves and cherishes that car... and wants to keep improving it so that some day the kiddo can have it... lets just hope shes not like her dad had has it wrapped around the telephone pole on his first day of college.... I am thankful that I got to visit Gram on her 90th birthday she is the most rockin'est old lady Ive ever known and I hope she keeps rocking till shes 100... whats another 10 more years when you've lived this long... right? I can only hope I hold the genes for that longevity. :) I am thankful for another year without deployment of the hubs... that would have devastated me with the dreams we had set to accomplish this year... I just hope that our luck holds out for this next year too... just at least until I get pregnant that is all I ask for. Call me selfish but these days its all I think about and wish for... babies! Yes, I'll even take twins at this point! LOL. And anything else I have forgotten I am thankful for.

30 Days of Me: Day 27

This month in great detail

To be truthful, I don't really remember all of this month (hence the reason for blogging)... its been such a whirlwind! It has flown by so quickly... in fact this whole year has seemed to have done that as well. These days "Chicken with its head cut off" seems to be my new look. I just cant wait to get this month done and over with... but that's just the start isn't it? Ohhhh yes, then comes Thanksgiving and EEK! Christmas! I am glad that I have been able to craft and paint a little this month, its more than I have done in a long time. I'm hoping to get a sewing machine before too long and then I'll really be up an at it with the projects! All in all its been a good month, Im not gonna go into the details with it since you can read it for yourself (its called archives) LOL! I just hope that November I can at least stop long enough to say I remember it LOL!

30 Days of Me: Day 25 & 26

Man I tell you what... this week has been beyond crazy. So I owe you 2 days of 30 days of Me: Day 25 (Your day in great detail) and Day 26 (Your week in great detail). Yesterday was such a whirl wind that I'll just spare you and give you the cliff notes version :)

Woke up around 9'ish (That is the only good part about hubs working nights, he lets me sleep in... I dunno how that man works all night and then cant stay asleep in bed past 8am!)

Work out was around 10'ish which consists of going to the gym on base to use the treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike and weights.

Came home showered... had sushi (California roll) for lunch.

Hubs went to work after lunch.

The kiddo and I did her school time work. Read from her Finnish language book, wrote her ABC's, practiced writing her name, adding and subtracting with the cookies I made a few days ago... I really enjoyed the subtracting part LOL! Then we colored and painted a few pictures for daddy.

Then she took a nap and I cleaned (the whirl wind part) had to get this house in shape for the party on Saturday... and I'm still not done! Ive got laundry to put away and I still need to vacuum upstairs :P

Around 3'ish the UPS man came and delivered my new baby (my new droid phone: The ever so awesome vibrant) ... Pics and Review coming up soon.

So then of course I played around with the phone for a while and farts around online a bit... and by the time I was done it was ready to make dinner, we had spaghetti (I know, oooh so gourmet)

After dinner, hubs went back to work and then I watched TV (Ghost Hunters, Steven Seagal: Law Man, Who the Bleep Did I Marry and Fact or Fake) and set up the rest of my phone apps.

Around 11'ish I hauled it up stairs and watched here the Heart is until hubs came home.

I can't tell you what we did after that, but yadda, yadda, yadda.... and then we went to bed. LOL!

:)

Oh and my week in great detail... I can pretty much sum it up in one word... CRAZY! LOL!

30 Days of Me: Day 22 & 23

Sorry I have been slacking... busy, busy, busy... trying to get things ready for this weekend. I think tomorrow I will be caught up for a little bit. I'm also incredibly sore! Last Thursday hubs and I started going to the gym together and well, now its all starting to catch up with me... I'm sore all over from my head to my toes... yeah... seriously. I keep telling myself it will all be worth it in the end. I need to lose a little weight, I went in to the doctor last Tuesday and my blood pressure is up... I keep telling her its just stress but she wants me to monitor it and lose a few pounds, if not its probably gonna be meds for me. Which does NOT make me happy... I know I'm gonna be 30 soon but damn! So I am working hard at getting back into shape and being a little more stress free :D

Anyway... lets see what did I miss...30 days of me... Day 22: A website and Day 23: A You Tube video.

A website I have been in love with lately is www.ThredUp.com I have found soooooo many awesome clothes for the kiddo. I have even gotten things with tags on it. For those of you that don't know Thred Up is a clothing swap for infants, toddlers, kids, and teens. I've sent off 4 boxes of the munchkins clothes and Ive gotten a total of 2 so far... I have 3 more boxes I can get before I have to start sending again (I'm saving up till spring) Still have baby clothes piled up and don't know what to do with them? Why no trade them in for some cool new to you clothes for your kiddo. These days I'm all about collaborative consumption.

Another awesome website I love is www.SwapTree.com which is where you can swap out cd's, dvd's, video games and books. This place ROCKS and is one of my faves! Ive been on these websites a little over 3 months now and I can assure you they are well worth a glance :)

And I owe you a you tube video...

This ones all about the great-ever-growing world of collaborative consumption. Whats mine is yours and whats yours is mine... its a good thing :)

And this is Orbital's Halcyon my favorite song to relax to and its from one of my favorite movies... Hackers! Enjoy and Hack the Planet :)

30 Days of Me: Day 21

A Recipe

I'm making Blood Punch next weekend for our Halloween Murder Mystery Party next weekend and I thought Id share the recipe with you all. Its a really awesome drink for when you have ALOT of people. This is the usually an alcoholic drink, but I've had the virgin version before and its also really good!

1 Liter Lemon Lime Soda
1 Bottle Raspberry Liqueur
0.5 Liters of Vodka
1 Gallon Hawaiian Punch

Mix well in your favorite cauldron and add ice!

I'll be making a ice cub hand for the ice part and its super easy to do and makes the drink look extra creeepy! Just take a fragrance free, latex free, and powder free plastic glove and fill it with water, tie up the end or tie up with a rubber band and place in the freezer till its frozen. Once its frozen and your ready to use it just peel off the glove and WALA! You got your creepy punch decoration that's functional!

30 Days of Me: Day 20

A Hobby of Yours

*Warning: What you are about to read is going to show you just how geeky or (dorky) I really am!

Well, If I hadn't said it before... I collect postcards, pressed pennies and I letterbox. Those are my three little "guilty pleasures" which are not all that guilty seeing how they cost less than a dollar each LOL!

I have TONS of postcards... I've been collecting them from everywhere and every trip that Ive taken or any of my friends and family have taken for probably the last 15 years. I also do Postcrossing and have been doing that for the past 3 years now. If you've never heard of it, go check it out its pretty cool. I love getting postcards from all over the world and Ive made some excellent friends in lots of cool places! And for what? All the price of a postcard and a stamp... yeah, soooooo well worth it! Favorite postcard so far?... came from Hell yes, there is a Hell and its in Norway! LOL!

This is just one of about ten postcard albums I have... they hold about 100 postcards each. And Ive still got three medium size containers that are full of postcards too.

This would be Hell, Norway. Pretty sunsets eh?

The pressed penny thing Ive been doing since 2001 and now I actually check the penny collector locater to see what machines are available in the area that I'm gonna be in... yeah I'm addicted. It started as a souvenir type thingy on of the many trips where I went back to Germany and went to Oktoberfest in Munich. They had a penny pressing machine there back before the Euro and Germany still had the pfennig, so its kinda cool that I have one that's made from a coin they no longer make anymore. Ironically my mom collected stamps when she was younger and my dad collected coins LOL! See, the apple really doesn't fall that far from the tree!

The German Pfennig is the second from the bottom on the left side (the one that's kinda gold looking) its the one that started it all LOL!

Letterbox'ing is something I love to do but dont really get to do that often. It requires a bit of traveling... and me... well, I always end up going to the same destinations so nine outta ten times I've already done those letter boxes before. Letterbox'ing is pretty cool though, I started doing it back when we lived in Augusta, GA. I really don't remember how I stumbled upon it. But, I got really addicted to it and did all the ones in my area and then chased some up to the South Carolina border... :D Its kinda like geo cacheing but with a twist. Letter boxes are pretty unique and are typically made by other letterbox'ers. I just love that it can be anywhere... found by just about anyone. Some are even really hard to get to without looking really stupid in front of what us letterbox'ers like to call "muggles" No... Im seriously not making that up... I told you I was a geek... hence the title of the blog. Anyway if you want to know all about our secret little society check us out at Atlas Quest Sign up, its free and really fun to do... you can even do it as a family or with the kids. And this would be me... finding my first letter box at an undisclosed location in Augusta Georgia. Look at that smile... I was genuinely pleased. And yes, my shirt does say Geek IS Sexy.

30 Days of Me: Day 19

A talent of yours.

Hmmm.... well I dunno. I don't think I really have any talents... not real ones anyway. I mean I cannnnnnn pop my hips outta joint and turn myself into the human gumby but isn't that really considered more of freak show type thing? Ok,ok but seriously... I do bit of everything but its just O.K. I'm kinda like a "Jess of all Trades" if you will. I paint, and dabble in art but its not really a talent. I've been in a talent show when I was in junior high and high school for singing but there again, I can carry a tune but I'm no Taylor Swift. I was in orchestra in high school and played cello (which I loved and feel the need to start up again some day) and again I was just O.K. I cook, I bake, I craft, I sew... but are those really talents? I think not... I guess if I had any talent at all it would be mommy-ness! (Yup, I just made that one up... like that eh? If you like that you should see some of my hand puppet shows... FAAAAABU! LOL!) That's the one thing I think I'm pretty good at. I also happen to enjoy it... most days ;) LOL!

P.S.. I'd always hope I'd be a awesome movie star and be able to see my name on a star somewhere on Hollywood Blvd... Oh well... C'est La Vie... I guess this will have to do... ;)

Super V and Oh, 30 days of Me Day 18.

Phew... Today is my running around like a chicken with its head cut off day! I've had soooo many errands to run and I still have so much to do around the house before the hubbers comes home for dinner. Man, I hate feeling rushed and posting this late so this is gonna be a combo post... crafty and a 30 days of me... thank god its "whatever tickles your fancy" day! LOL!

The munchkin has been bugging me like crazy to wear her Halloween costume that we bought last week. Its just killing her that Halloween and Trick or Treating is not coming fast enough. Shes going to be Superman Girl this year. Yes, that was Super-MAN-Girl... not Super Girl... oh no, not according to little miss munchkin... it's Superman girl! LOL! Well, to suppress the mind numbing rant of asking me a million times over, I decided I was gonna make her an everyday sorta kinda cape to wear. The kid loves and I mean LOVES superheros. I cant blame her... the hubs and I sorta instilled this upon her LOL, in fact I think we created a monster.. so I googled the heck outta of how to make your own. I do not have a sewing machine (yet... and lord knows how I need one ASAP!) so I needed something fairly simple. I then stumbled upon Cassidy's Tutorial at Thrillingly Thrifty. When I saw her tutorial on the capes she made for her kids, I just knew this would be perfect! Thannnnnnnks so much Cassidy... you truly have saved my sanity till Halloween! So I took about 4 hours last night and sewed (by hand) a cape she can wear till Halloween and probably everyday there on till she graduates college. Yes, I could totally picture this child going off to college cape and all... that's how much she loves superheros! So without further ado I shall entertain you with a few pics of my little caped crusader. And please take a few minutes to check out Cassidy's blog shes pretty much amazing and has some awesome tutorials!

I made her a mask also, which she seemed to love despite looking like Mushmouth from Fat Albert LOL! What can I say?... it was my first attempt at a mask.

The munchkin Wooshing through the dining room and kitchen (please ignore the mess)

I think she loves it... what do you think???

30 Days of Me: Day 16 & 17

Today I'm supposed to blog about a song that makes me cry or nearly. I don't really feel like doing all that again, for one there isn't many songs that make me get emotional about and two I've blogged about it before recently in this post. So please excuse me while I skip over that lol.

Onto day 17: An Art Piece

And that my friends I can share... In fact, I'll share a little secret... I am an artist! Have been and always will be. My love for art started in high school as a freshman. I took every art class I could, was in portfolio art club and took advanced placement honors portfolio art classes. In fact I graduated high school with top honors in art and language. Ok... enough tooting of my own horn LOL. These days I don't get to do alot of my own work... instead I let the munchkin work on her masterpieces. I'm so glad shes taking such a big interest in art. She is her mothers daughter after all. :D So here's some Ive done in high school and some I've done in the past couple of years.

(From High School)
Tübingen, Germany 1998

"Fall from Grace" 1999

"Heart Strings" 2000

Mixed Media/Furniture Design Bohemian 3 Tier Desk 2000
____________________________________________________________________

(Recent)

"Come sit next to me, pour yourself some tea" 2002
And still one of my fav. it sits in my dining room :D

"Land of the rising roll" 2009
Sushi love piece. Also sits in the dining room.

"Ante Meridian Post Meridian" 2009
It depicts the city at night and dawn.

This one doesn't have a title exactly but, it does profess my love for art and geek perfectly.
Its both a painting and a functional light. There are 6 yellow LED's connected by battery operated circuit on the back and a side switch. Here's what it looks like at night...

Hope you've enjoyed the show :)

30 Days of Me: Day 15

A Fan-Fic

I have to say, Im not real big into fan-fic stuff, just because I prefer the originals. However... there are a few that catch my fancy. One of which is Bat In the Sun Productions. They are a brilliant indi film and music production company, that began in 2001 by Aaron Schoenke and Sean Schoenke. They have produced; Dark Justice, Patient J, Batman Legends, and recently City of Scars. These guys have held true to alot of the comics and characteristics of batman. Check these guys out... they prove that not all indi flicks are amateur and cheesy. ;)

30 Days of Me: Day 14

A non-fiction book.

It's kinda funny... I barely own any non fiction books. I have this thing about "self help"... my philosophy is I'll just figure it out on my own, which is usually the hard way. Hubs has tons of non-fiction computer geek books, in fact that's all he reads. Even the non-fiction books I have are just either cook books, language books or my criminology books (Im an ex criminology major, I wanted to be either a forensics analyst or a criminal profiler ). I think the only book that I own and love that's non-fiction is sorta a memoir type by Jim Morrison (yes, the singer from the Doors) Its his book of lost writings and poetry called Wilderness. I first fell in love with this amazing book during my high school years, I have kept it since and whenever I feel the need to trip down teenage angst lane again I crack it open.

Just some of my faves from the book, the ones that I felt the most (the ones that felt me back);

I can make the earth stop in its tracks
I made the blue cars go away
I can make myself invisible or small
I can become gigantic and reach the farthest things
I can change the course of nature
I can place myself anywhere in space or time
I can summon the dead
I can perceive events on other worlds
In my deepest inner mind
And in the minds of others
I can
I am

I am troubled
Immeasurably
By your eyes
I am struck
By the feather
Of your soft reply
The sound of glass
Speaks quick
Disdain
And conceals
What your eyes fight
To explain

What are you doing here?
What do you want?
Is it music?
We can play music
But you want more
You want something and someone new
Am I right?
Of course I am
I know what you want
You want ecstasy
Desire and dreams
Things not exactly what they seem
I lead you this way, he pulls you that way
I'm not singing to an imaginary girl
I'm talking to you, my self
Let's recreate the world
The palace of conception is burning
Look, see it burn?
Bask in the warm hot coals
You're too young to be old
You don't need to be told
You want to see things as they are
You know exactly what I do
Everything.

30 Days of Me: Day 13

A Fictional Book

The kiddo and I are currently reading the mouse cookie books. You know the ones, "If you give a mouse a cookie, hes gonna wanna..." We have added If you give a mouse a cookie, If you take a mouse to school, If you give a moose a muffin, If you give a pig a pancake, If you give a pig a party and If you give a cat a cupcake to our library. She loves these books and I can't say that I blame her... I loved them as a child myself.

As for our foreign selection... we are currently reading Aschenputtel (Cinderella in German) by Ethan Mordden. She has shown major progress in this book from when we first started reading it... and I am more than ecstatic about that! She is beginning to understand alot more German words and has been speaking in German more often, I honestly couldn't be more proud! Oh and her pronunciation is spot on! I have never been so glad to have made the choice to start teaching her other languages so early on in life. I just have to remember speak "proper German" and not in my dialect (slang) LOL! The other book we are currently reading together is; I live in Tokyo by Mari Takabayashi. If I fail at everything else in life, I will succeed at having a smart, worldly-wise and multilingual child!... that is the goal at least. I think were off to a good start though, she already wants to travel the world and make as many friends as she can, which is not to hard for her seeing how she is not shy at all. :)

As for myself... I just finished up Southern Vampires: 13 Deep Fried Blood Curdling Tales, which was really good for a short story book. Now I am currently reading Almost Single by Advaita Kala. What can I say... I'm a sucker for Indian novels and Bollywood films! The novel takes place in New Delhi and reads like chick-lit but with a Hindi twist. I like the heroin and the book has a pretty witty dialog too.

30 Days of Me: Day 12

Whatever tickles your fancy.

I have decided to share a secret with you... I aspire to be a great photographer some day... and travel the world taking beautiful photos that you'll buy as postcards.

Ok so the truth is... I have just finished my portfolio... well I think I'm done, unless I travel some place really cool soon and end up taking more photos. Now here comes the hard part... submitting my portfolio...EEEK! ZOMG! Can I will just admit that I'm terrified! Its not because I can't take criticism, on the contrary I enjoy it. It's just that its MY work. Its like someone taking a magnifying glass and looking over your whole body trying to find every flaw. Oh its sooo nerve wracking!-- I speak from experience. When I was in high school I was in advanced portfolio art classes and after high school I applied and submitted a portfolio to Chicago's Art Institute for furniture design. The good news was that I got accepted... the stupid news was I decided to get married for the first time. I was only 19. Woah... so yeah, needless to say I never went. :P And here I am butterflies in stomach all over again LOL! Anyway... I'll let you see a little preview of my work with a video... nicely put together by Animoto. Please enjoy and let me know your thoughts on my work.

30 Days of Me: Day 11

A photo of you taken recently.

Ok, so I have to cheat a little. Can you belive I don't have one single photo of me from this year??? I do! What can I say... Im usually the photographer... So this one is from around this time last year, just before we PCS'ed from our house on Fort Gordon Army Post to here at Keesler AFB. We lived on Fort Gordon for 3 years, hubs had a "special assignment" that he was given there, that's why we were an Air Force family on a Army Post. It wasn't bad really... I made some of the best friends there, friends I will be friends with for life. I learned alot of lessons there and had alot of good times. I don't miss housing though, it was at least 50 years old! Anyway the photo was taken by the hubs right after the munchkin and I got dressed to go out for one of our many Friday night "family night out" were in my living room next to my back door. :)

30 Days of Me: Day 10

A photo of you taken over 10 years ago.

Well this is a pic of me and the hubs sitting on his mom and dad's couch watching Transformers (yes were were little geeks even back then, what can I say ...somethings never change) in 1987 when he was 5 and I was 4. Yes, we've known each other that long... and yes, there is a story to it...

His mom and my mom were best friends growing up in Germany, they both married American Army soldiers. His dad got out and moved state side to Jacksonville a few years later, while my dad stayed in and my parents stayed stationed in Germany until I was 5. After that we moved back to the states to Ft. Myers Florida where my dads parents lived... me and the hubbers lived about 5 hours away but since our parents were such close BFF's we got to see each other every summer and sometimes long weekend holidays. And here we are 23 years later, totally in love with each other just like those two little kids were on the couch back in 1987. It wasn't always smooth... we had obstacles in the way like heartaches, failed marriages (prior to ours), college disappointments... and a lot of growing up to do, but we made it though... It just goes to show you that you just can't keep true love apart.

30 Days of Me: Day 8

A photo that makes you angry/sad:

This photo makes me sad... I miss our friend Jim.

I love this picture. Its one of the many times Jim would come up from Orlando to my In-laws house and hang out with us during holidays or long weekends. Im in the middle, hubs is to my right and Jim is on my left... we use to call this move "The Jess Samamich". Jim passed away suddenly a few months ago in August. It broke mine and hubs hearts. He was a really wonderful friend. And he was my husbands first friend at college. Long before the hubs joined the Air Force he decided he'd try college away from home in Orlando, it was the first time he had ever lived on his own and gone to school. It wasn't easy... in fact it was really complicated juggling school, work and bills all at once, until he found Jim. Jim had been at college a little while before him and kind of took him under his wing and showed him the ropes... They soon became really good friends. A year and a half went by and hubs had to put the college dream on hold and go back home, but all the while keeping in touch with Jim. Distraught with what to do next he went to Jim for advice... he had always had the idea of a military career in the back of his mind but when he talked to Jim about it, he seemed to make that decision a little easier for him, having been in the Navy himself. Hubs still kept in contact with him all through Basic and Tech School and even when we lived 21 hours away in Oklahoma. We would go see Jim every chance we would get, when we would head home for the holidays or vacation. This past March he married the woman of his dreams a person so perfect for him you'd think that she made in a dream herself. Brief as the time was I am glad he got to experience how it feels to marry the love of your life. She is an amazingly strong woman and I can only hope to have the courage she has some day. I can't wait to see her this December when we go home for Christmas. He was a great man with a true heart of gold and the best friend anyone could ever have. Its times like this when I ask myself... why him? Why Jim... I am not religious and it is hard for me to comprehend when people tell me that it was "part of god's plan". I just hope that someday I will understand the meaning of it all, but for today... I'm just sad.

30 Days of Me: Day 6

Whatever tickles my fancy:

Whatever tickles my fancy eh? LOL... that could be dangerous... ;) ok, ok... we wont go there (just yet). But since I was just talking about tattoos yesterday. How would you like to see them? Oh, you would? GREAT! cause that's what this post is all about! ;) I personally love tattoos... I think I speak for alot of tattooed people when I say "they are art and we are the canvas". I love looking at them, I like going to conventions about them... and your always surprised by the people who have them... like the last time I went in to get tattooed and the person who was getting inked by my artist was an 83 year old lady...ZOMG! Rock on! ;) One thing I absolutely cannot tolerate is prejudice against them... like in the work place for example. Before becoming a stay at home mom, I used to (and have always) worked in the medical field and as most medical professionals know, tattoos usually must be covered. I cannot stand that! I get it... I totally understand if you don't want your x-ray done by this guy....

Sheesh! But to make the majority of us "cover up" one or two or of our exposing tattoos or even a full sleeve is ridiculous! So long as were not looking like Mr. Cool over there. LOL!

So below are mine and yes, I plan on getting more... how many? or as my husband likes to put it... "when are you gonna stop?" (not because he doesn't like them on me... he just knows how expensive they are) the answer to that is... I dunno... I'll stop when Im ready or have run out of things I want to remember permanently. So yeah, here goes and hope you enjoy the show.

# 1... my cherry popper so to speak ;) Done at Pleasures of the Flesh in Florida. Its the crest of the city I was born in (Heilbronn, Germany) and also where my mom and our family is from. I got because Im proud to be German... took me along time to not be afraid of that, especially when I went through a majority of my childhood being called "Nazi Kid". I also got it to remind me of where I come from and where a part of my heart will always be.

# 2 Veritas & Aequitas... means truth and justice in Latin... two words I believe in very strongly. EVERYONE asks if I got it because of Boondock Saints. No... not exactly, I mean I do love the movie but not that much. I got it because of the words literally. Without truth justice will fail and within real justice lies the truth. ;) This was done by first amendment in Oklahoma City (while we were stationed at Tinker AFB) Oklahoma. Did you know that Oklahoma was a dry ink state for 4 decades? Yup, that's right it was illegal to tattoo someone in the state of Oklahoma unless if was medical purposes and given by a doctor, up until 2007. Guess who just got lucky ;)

# 3 & 4 (Got them both together) Freshly inked, Freshly glossed, and Fresh outta the wrapper!
Oooh and just look at that prickly skin! LOL! Who said tattoos never hurt? Actually I never really felt it hurt until I got my lower back done... even the one I got on my stomach just made me giggle... yeah, seriously. The lower back though, ooh watch out! NERVE CITY! Anyway... these 2 are representatives for my loves, my husband on my back with the bat symbol and the tribal heart around it. (Yes, he considers himself to be Batman in alot of ways) and the bottom pic is for my daughter. The girl is Harley Quinn (from the DC comics), which is her middle name sake. The baby blocks Harley Quinn sits on has her initials inside them. These were both done at Studio 13 in Augusta, Georgia and while we were stationed at Fort Gordon, Army Post and were both drawn by yours truly.
# 5 (Hey! Im half way to 10 now!) A matching tattoo with my mom. Because I always wanted to get one done with her and one that matched. My mom and I are so close and I hate being away from her with this military lifestyle. Shes my best friend... and I miss her everyday Im away from her... So I have this butterfly on me that reminds me that she is always with me as am I with her.
What will my next be? I haven't quite decided on it just yet. But I do know I would like it in Sailor Jerry style! I have always loved that style and its one I haven't got yet. :)

30 Days of Me: Day 5

Allllllmost forgot...

Your favorite Quote:

Call me a geek but that is what I am... there is no denying it. So my quote is of course something geek-e-ly related...

"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me" --Batman/Bruce Wayne (From the movie Batman Begins)

I love it because it holds true, for both myself and the hubs. I'd like to hope that people view me for what I can do or have done instead of simply what they see me as. In other words get to know the real me. Take a good long look beyond just the rough edges... see what I have done, where I have been, the things I have made good and then tell me what you really see me as.

Someday I'd love to get this tattooed on me... as if I didn't have enough batman/comic book related tattoos already. ;)

30 Days of Me: Day 4

Favorite Book: I have to be honest here and say that this whole "pick only one" thing to write about has me struggling! LOL

Ok so I love comic books, and those I categorize separately from regular books because...well... their...special. :D

My favorite comics are DC comcis. Im a HUUUUUUGE DC fan, and a HUUUUUUGE fan of Alex Ross and therefor love Kingdom Come. I also love graphic novels like Preludes and Knock-Knock Jokes.... Im a great big fan of Harley Quinn (so much that I have a tattoo of her on my right calf) I also love Catwoman: When in Rome. My faves out of all the batman comics have been obviously Detective Comics and Batman Confidential. The kiddo loves the new Brave and Bold series and any comic she can get her hands on that features Hawk Girl. (That is her idol) ;)

Recently my favorite series has become Gotham City Sirens... this series has me anxious and running to my favorite local comic book shop every Wednesday to grab up the newest in the series! I haven't felt that way about a comic in a long time... *sigh* This series has GREAT writing by Paul Dini and fantastic art work by Guillem March.

As far as regular novels go... I am totally in love with the works of Charlaine Harris. I love the way she writes the Sookie Stackhouse novels, she had me at "Sookeh is Miiiiiiine". If you like vampire novels and haven't yet read these... do please read them, they will not disappoint!

I love books so much that, last year hubs decided to buy me a nook for Christmas! I think honestly he was just tired of seeing the pile upon piles of books everywhere... Now all my books are neatly contained in this little baby...

An so I crafted the sleeve that holds my little nook (yes, shameless self promotion... so kill me! lol) seriouslythough arent these cute?

But it really does keep your nook from getting scratched and looking drab ;) I still do enjoy reading regular books and when I do get the urge to hoard, I mean buy books again, I head to one of the most fantastic book shops I have ever been to; The Chamblin Bookmine (http://www.chamblinbookmine.com/) in Jacksonville, Florida. The place is fantastic, it has literally miles of books. When I go, I clear my schedule for the day because I seriously get lost in this...

And this...
