Book Review: Dead Ever After By: Charlaine Harris *WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS*
After the terrible events of the past weeks, both Sookie and Sam are finding it hard to concentrate on Merlott's and the bar is suffering for it. But Sookie finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene when she wants her job back. After all, Arlene tried to have Sookie killed.
Sookie's relationship with Eric Northman is in limbo. He and his vampires are keeping their distance... and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.
Then Arlene is found murdered, and Sookie is arrested for the crime. But the evidence against her is weak, and Sookie makes bail. Helped by her assortment of friends, living and undead, she must discover the truth about Arlene's death to clear herself of suspicion. All she knows is that two mysterious men were somehow involved. As to whom they might be Sookie will soon learn that she has more than one enemy waiting to get vengeance for the past.
Nothing is ever clear cut in Bon Temps. What passes for truth is only a convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what passes for love is never enough...
Disappointing is an understatement. This time the writing from Charlaine Harris seems detached and distant, it feels like she really had to dig deep and try hard to finish this series. The writing almost makes you believe that is was written in sections, the flow is not consistent and very choppy. Sookie also seems very jaded and everyone in Bon Temps seems different, it's definitely not the series I fell in love with and couldn't wait to read book after book. I am also annoyed with the ending, not because of Sookie choosing Sam over Eric but because a lot of it didn't make sense. What about the contract written in blood? Charlaine never really does explain who the "devil" is... my guess is she is referring to Claude and the way he is scarred and burned?
And then Sookie sends Barry to live with Sams mom? FTW??? I get that she can't live with another telepath but still? That seems like a poor way to write off a character. I am thoroughly confused and left hurt with such a pitiful ending to my once beloved favorite series. The only consultation I feel I received is that I had the opportunity to read about most of my favorite characters just one last time. I am happy that in the end Sookie is with Sam, I understand that Eric and her would have never worked out, but I still feel cheated out of what had the potential to be a good book and a end to a great series.

Book Review: Deadlocked By: Charlaine Harris

Growing up with telepathic abilities, Sookie Stackhouse realized early on that there she'd rather no know. And now that she's an adult, she also realizes that some things she knows about, she'd rather no see-like Eric Northman feeding off another woman. A younger one.
There's a thing or two she'd like to say about that, but she has to keep quiet-Felipe de Castro, the vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town. It's the worst possible time for a human body to show up in Eric's front yard- especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank.
Now it's up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Fire investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl's fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious that she would ever suspect, who's set out to make Sookie's world come crashing down.
I really loved the book! It was a great page turner and as always, I managed to finish it in a few days time (would have finished sooner but ya know, life gets in the way of my reading habits). I was pleased to find out some of the answers I had questions to about the remaining fae. I was also glad to see life progress in positives ways around bon temps. I wonder now though, with only one book in the series remaining for Charlaine to write... what choice will Sookie choose for herself. Do all roads really lead to Rome for her, so to speak? Or will she decide something completely different? There are so many choices and its too soon to tell, but one thing is for certain... I can't wait till to read the finale!

Dead Reckoning

It's spring in Bon Temps, and for telepathic barmaid Sookie Stackhouse, the season will turn out to be one full of secrets revealed-secrets that will bring major changes in her life...
With her knack for being in trouble's way. Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area.
But Sookie suspects otherwise, and she and Sam work together to uncover the culprit and the twisted motive for the attack. but her attention is divided. Through she can't "read" vampires, Sookie knows her lover, Eric Northman, and his "child" Pam well and she realizes that they are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, she is drawn into the plot which is much more complicated that she knows.
Caught up once again in the politics of the vampire world, Sookie will learn that she is as much of a pawn as any ordinary human and that there is a new queen on the board...
Despite reading all the reviews on Dead reckoning, I was in deed surprised at how much I actually liked it. I had some doubts in the beginning of the book but I am satisfied with the outcome. I find the inner debate in Sookie interesting, she is finally realizing there is more to life than just what's happening to her in the moment and just what is going on in her and Eric's relationship.
I was a little sad, yet a little relieved that Ameila and Bob helped Sookie break the blood bond,I think that was weighing on her alot and frankly I got tired of hearing about its drama. I am glad to see that her and Eric still love each other and of course I'm dying to know what is going to happen next between him and his betrothed, the queen of Oklahoma... so as always... I am left feeling like I can't wait for the next book to come out!

30 Days of Books: Day 24

Day 24 – Best quote from a novel
ZOMG! there is soooo many! How can I blog about just one?! Truth is... I can't! So here's a
few that I love.
"If there were an international butt competition, Eric would win, hands down-or cheeks up"
-Charlaine Harris (Dead to the World)
"Here's to books, the cheapest vacation you can buy"
-Charlaine Harris (Club Dead)
"Sookie, my little bullet-sucker... Eric, my big bullshitter"
-Charlaine Harris (Living Dead in Dallas)
"Hey, our hair's the same color, I said, eyeing us side by side in the mirror. Sure is, girlfriend!
Eric grinned at me"

30 Days of Books: Day 20 & 21

Day 20 – Favorite kiss
Day 21 – Favorite romantic/sexual relationship (including asexual romantic relationships)
Day 21 – Favorite romantic/sexual relationship (including asexual romantic relationships)
I think you all know by now my favorite fiction relationship is between Eric Northman and myself, uh I mean sookie stackhouse! Oppps! LOL! Silly Jess! I think the best books in the series that
"describe" their relationship is book # 4 "Dead to the World" and book # 7 All Together Dead.
Charlaine really heats it up! ;)

30 Days of Books: Day 12

Day 12 – A book or series of books you’ve read more than five times
I think its a little obvious by now but, just in case you missed it... its the sookie stackhouse series by Charline Harris. I just really love how she writes! And if I haven't mentioned it a half dozen times I love the cast of characters. It's also the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling... these books had me at "the boy who lived"... there is just something truly awesome about the stories. And like I said before, I am so sad that they have come to an end.

30 Days of Books: Day 11

This book surprised me in not so good ways. Charlaine has never disappointed me until I read this book. I felt like maybe it was rushed? It just didn't make a whole lot of sense to me..
I felt like alot of the side plots were just jumbled up without alot of follow through and I was a bit confused at the end. I am hoping it was just a fluke... and that her next book will amaze me like they normally do.

30 Days of Books: Day 9

Day 09 – Best scene ever
LOL! Well that's easy for me... there are several "steamy scene's" in my favorite book
Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris that involve a certain viking vampire... but my favorite by far is a certain shower scene! And is incidentally why I love books... because your imagination can run away with them ;) LOL!

30 Days of Books: Day 6

Day 06 – Favorite book of your favorite series OR your favorite book of all time
My absolute favorite series by Charlaine Harris: The sookie stackhouse novels or The Southern
Vampire Series. I love everything about these books! I love the way they are written, I love the
cast of characters, I love the suspense, I love romance and my god do I love me some Eric Northman! He just happens to my favorite (viking) vampire and I sure do pledge my love to the sherrif of area 5. I started reading this series waaaaaay before "True Blood" came out on HBO, and while I am happy with the series, I wish they could stay a little more faithful to the books...t he books are so much more amazing than the show. :) I just wish Bon Temps was a real town I could go visit with all my favorite "friends":)

30 Days of Books: Day 4

Day 04 – Your favorite book or series ever.
I have two... and neither one is better than the other in the same sense that I could pick
a favorite kind of chocolate lol! They are Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse Novels or AKA. "Southern Vampire Mysteries" and J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter Series! I love these books so
much! I have every book in the series and I would be seriously lost with out them... I read them over and over sometimes I finish the book, other times I just read my favorite chapters or parts of the books. I dunno what it is about them that I'm so addicted to but I am. I am sad that J.K Rowling ended the HP books I wish it could go on forever... I'd like to see what Harry and his friends are like later on in life and if they have children what those children would be like. And I think that if Charlaine ever ends the Sookie books I will cry! No, seriously I will! They are that awesome!
Oh and just as a side note... I have Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire which I bought in London when I was there in 2000, and it DOES vary just a little. Not the actual story just the language... its my also favorite book to read out of the series.

Day 03 – The best book you’ve read in the last 12 months
Its kinda hard to decide so Im going to go with my all time favorite book which is
Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris its book # 4 in the Sookie Stackhouse series.
I love this book for so many reasons but mostly because of the chemistry, relationship
and bond that Sookie and Eric form... oooh there are sooooo many steamy chapters in
this book... I think the idea of Eric is what makes me read it over and over again LOL!

30 Days of Me: Day 4

Favorite Book: I have to be honest here and say that this whole "pick only one" thing to write about has me struggling! LOL
Ok so I love comic books, and those I categorize separately from regular books because...well... their...special. :D
My favorite comics are DC comcis. Im a HUUUUUUGE DC fan, and a HUUUUUUGE fan of Alex Ross and therefor love Kingdom Come. I also love graphic novels like Preludes and Knock-Knock Jokes.... Im a great big fan of Harley Quinn (so much that I have a tattoo of her on my right calf) I also love Catwoman: When in Rome. My faves out of all the batman comics have been obviously Detective Comics and Batman Confidential. The kiddo loves the new Brave and Bold series and any comic she can get her hands on that features Hawk Girl. (That is her idol) ;)

Recently my favorite series has become Gotham City Sirens... this series has me anxious and running to my favorite local comic book shop every Wednesday to grab up the newest in the series! I haven't felt that way about a comic in a long time... *sigh* This series has GREAT writing by Paul Dini and fantastic art work by Guillem March.

As far as regular novels go... I am totally in love with the works of Charlaine Harris. I love the way she writes the Sookie Stackhouse novels, she had me at "Sookeh is Miiiiiiine". If you like vampire novels and haven't yet read these... do please read them, they will not disappoint!
I love books so much that, last year hubs decided to buy me a nook for Christmas! I think honestly he was just tired of seeing the pile upon piles of books everywhere... Now all my books are neatly contained in this little baby...
An so I crafted the sleeve that holds my little nook (yes, shameless self promotion... so kill me! lol) seriouslythough arent these cute? But it really does keep your nook from getting scratched and looking drab ;) I still do enjoy reading regular books and when I do get the urge to hoard, I mean buy books again, I head to one of the most fantastic book shops I have ever been to; The Chamblin Bookmine (http://www.chamblinbookmine.com/) in Jacksonville, Florida. The place is fantastic, it has literally miles of books. When I go, I clear my schedule for the day because I seriously get lost in this...
And this...
