Straight from the Geekery

First off I'd like to say Thanks to Jennifer! She chose me to be featured on her blog Sunshine and Chaucer for my comic book shoes that I posted about yesterday. YAY!!! Thanks Jennifer!!! You made my day! :D

And now for my next trick project... I bring you...

The Lego ring! It was just something fun I wanted to do for myself, my hubby proposed to me somewhat similarly (with a toy ring from a candy machine) and it made me giggle when I made this... he also snickered when I showed him and we both though of that awesome day. :)
Basically all I did was hot glue some lego pieces together on top of a regular ring base, from hobby lobby. Hubs also thinks I should get a job there LOL! I told him, that might not be such a great idea seeing how I would probably be spending all my paychecks where I worked LOL!

I also watched the cape last night and I just have to say its AMAZING! Being the comic book nerd that I am, I figured that I would love this show. It reminds me of what a Batman TV series would be like. I really hope this show lasts because I seriously love it! If you love comic books then this show is for you! It comes on Sunday at 9/8c on NBC.

Sorry this post is so random... just had to get all this out, Happy Monday Everyone! :)

Comic Book Shoes

Yes, you read that title right... I made comic book shoes!!! I'm not sure if I have mentioned it lately but Modpauge and I have become quite close... in fact I think sewing machine and glue gun are starting to notice and might be getting a bit jealous LOL!

So I got these plain white kinda boring flats from Wal-Mart and thought what can I do with these to make them look a bit more "Zazzy" (Say it like Sheldon from BBT lol!) and then it hit me!... why not modpauge something on them?... I had just bought this big bottle of modpauge from hobby lobby (while it was on sale) and what better way to break it in. It pained me a little to be cutting up a comic book... what a HUGE no no... but it's a new one and there was nothing significant about it other than the pages were really bright and it had some of my favorite hero's in it. So I bit my lip and tore off some pages to cut out strips to modpauge to my shoes, and so began my project. And I have to say it was pretty easy... a little messy, but easy. And now I LOOOOOOOVE them... I have slapped on about 4 coats of modpauge and then sprayed them with clear coat from krylon juuuuuuust to make sure they are sealed pretty good... but I don't think I'll be wearing them in the rain just because I would cry (ALOT) if they got ruined. Anyway here they are... let me know what you think? :)

Oh, Please excuse the white spots that's just the modpauge drying...
I got a little eager to take pics and post them to my facebook without letting
them dry fully... what can I say? I got a little excited lol!

I even put Green Lantern on my shoes.

And Wahla! Ready to go! :D

Expecto Patronum!!!

We have finally seen the new Harry Potter!!! It was... AWESOME!!! I am a little sad that they are doing it in 2 parts though...but... I understand why. Don't worry I wont spill any of the goodies in case your still wanting to go see it, which you totally should... because it is AWESOME!!!

And in honor of witchcraft and wizardry, I have crafted up my very own wand!!!
Ohhh and its soooo easy to make... no really! And suuuuuuper cheap! Honestly you cant get cheaper than a rolled up piece of paper and some hot glue! I love it! I'm thinking of making a few more of these since I loved how it turned out and then making a cool wand stand to go with them to grace the top of my entertainment center.

So to make your very own witch or wizard wand... take a regular 8x11 sheet of paper and roll (tightly) from one side the other, once you've got your paper rolled up good and tight take a bit of hot glue and glue down your edge. Then cut off each end just a tiny bit and fill that in (very carefully) with hot glue. Let that dry for a few seconds and then begin to glue around all the sides of the "wand" to make the "bumpy" "magical" look. Once that dries you can begin to paint it. I painted the wand part brown first and just used one coat because I liked the way it made it look like wood. After that dried I just took a bit of metallic green paint and painted the "bumpy" "magical" part and Viola! You're ready to start dueling!

Take Your Best Shot!

Remember a few weeks back when hubs and I went on vacation and we went out on our date to the gun range?... which was awesome by the way! Best stress reliever EVER!!! Well, I kept the shells from our shots we fired. They were from.45 Cal hand guns and now they are earrings! I love them, I wore them out today just to Target, Wal-Mart and the Mall and got soooo many compliments on them! They were fairly easy to make too. I just took the original shell and dremeled it in half at the base of the shell, leaving just the back where the pin hits the shell. I then hot glued those to earring backs and Wahla! Instant coolness! :D

Oh and speaking of making jewelry... I made an anklet and matching earrings for my MIL for Christmas... I'm thinking I might just have to get into jewelry making what do you guys think?

Crayon Roll

So I've been at it again, ok.. ok.. I'll admit it... I've been at it all week, so much that my hubby is considering shipping me off to work in a sweat shop in Asia LOL! I keep telling him I would pale in comparison to how they mass produce their items LOL! So as projected, I have been sewing up a storm with my new lover sewing machine. Yesterday I made something for the munchkin and my sanity... Ever been in a hurry to an appointment or dinner and thrown a box of crayons in your purse only to have them break, get color all over your other items in your purse or fall out of the box to be everywhere in your purse? Well I have made a crayon roll! I'm sure its not the first of its kind, and in fact Im quite sure there are probably dozens of them out there. But now I own one! YAY! It was so easy to make also... just like the tea wallet I made I used about a 3rd of a big fat quarter and some felt interfacing, the hardest part was sewing all the lines that hold the crayons. And it wasn't really hard at all just tedious. Wanna see the pics? Yes? Well ok! :DWhile its all rolled up... isn't it cute?
Best part... it doesn't take up hardly any space in my new purse.

The kiddo is particularly loving the rolling it up and tying it feature.
Shes also learning how to tie her shoes.

When its all unrolled. Isn't the fabric cutesy! :D

So what do you guys think? Are you sick of my sewing yet...? Hope not, because I've got lots more coming soon! Speaking of that... would you all like tutorials? I have thought about this before but I haven't done it yet because I don't want to seem like a "Little Miss Know it All" ;)

My First "Big Girl" Purse.

In addition to my totally rad and awesome new sewing machine (from my mumzie) I also am now a proud owner of a Carlos Falchi handbag! All thanks to my momma in law. Ohhhhh yeah! And just in case you don't know the 411 on him he's apparently a huge designer and makes pretty expensive purses. FYI this is my first "big girl" designer purse... I simply love it! Its PURPLE and its PYTHON!!! And Ooooh so cute! A little back story on this cool man, he started his fashion designing career in the 1970's in Greenwich Village, he worked at Max's as a bus boy while busting his but working on his designs and was also a neighbor to Jimmi Hendrix. His first buyers were Rock Stars! Does my momma in law know my style or what?! My new purse even comes with its on swagger style dust bag! Yeah, a bag to put over it so it doesn't get dirty! LOL! Pretty awesome eh?

What's on my phone Tuesday!

I have lots of random photos for you this Tuesday... mostly from our recent vacation. Enjoy! And as always feel free to link up to Jessica at The Lowe Family News.

Even at 5, she still looks like my little baby when shes asleep.

That's a man on a mission... can't you tell by the slurpie?

Its Mickey! Near Orlando...

The munchkin playing the kinect at Grandma & Poppa's.

Our firework arsenal!

Awwe! Look, they named a firecracker after me ;)

The munchkin and her first sparkler.

Shoots Flaming Balls! Bahahaha! "That's what she said!" LOL! :D

I have a bunch more but as it stands right now my laptop's power cord has finally bit the dust and I am at a whopping 12% battery... so guess what that means... yup I might have to take a little hiatus until I can get a new cord for the laptop. I sincerely hope that its just the cord and not the port to the plug... because if that's the case I will be royally screwed... it just happens that that this year it is no longer under warranty. :P I'll keep ya posted. For now ta-ta :)

Back to our regularly blogging program.

I dunno about you guys but I feel like this past week has been a whirl wind! I can't believe its already Tuesday! And I thought last year went by fast, this year is bound to prove me wrong... We have had an awesome New Years, spent at my In-Laws house. We had dinner with hubs friends from high school and later champagne and fireworks! (Don't worry its safe, I'm not preggers yet.)
Speaking of that, I have called my doctor and he is currently on his guard duty! Goooooo figure! So he will be out of the office for the next 2 weeks, I have left a message with the nurse and they say he will call me back... ha! We shall see...

We drove home on Sunday... and it was a looooooong drive. Nearly 7 1/2 hours. I was just greatful that the munchkin was well entertained, somewhere along the long drives from Oklahoma to Florida to Georgia to Mississippi and back again I have figured out a mass of items that will entertain her. Just call me Yoda of road trips! LOL!

So since we've been home I have been vacuuming, laundering, dish washing, tidying, and SEWING! ZOMG! Do I just loooooooove my new sewing machine... I can tell already that her and I are on our way of becoming BFF's! I have made two projects already (just today!) Woohoo! Yeah I'm on a roll! Wanna see what I made? They aren't anything crazy award winning, but I like them! Oh, and those of you who voted for me during the dollar tree flair for crafts project... I sincerely thank you! I did not win any of the prizes, however I do appreciate all your votes and going out of your way to give me the shot at winning :)

So on to my goodies... cause I know you all are just dieing to see them...lol!

This little cutesie cuppy cake apron is my first project with the sewing machine.

This would be my second project of the day... a tea wallet for me mum :)

This is what the inside looks like. Its basically a little accessories for tea on the go. You can store your little tea bags in this handy dandy wallet and then toss the wallet in your purse. My mom drinks tea every morning at work so I figured this would be perfect for her! I cant wait to send it to her... I'm also thinking of making one for myself, I have a bit of the fabric left over and I only used half of a big fat quarter... just need to get a little bit more of interfacing. :D

Hope you liked my projects, I think the next thing I'm gonna work on is my .45 cal earrings... better get the dremel out ;)
