Green Belt, Turning 7 and Some Big News!

So I thought I'd blog a little bit since Christmas is literally right around the corner and I'm sure I'm going to be taking a little break until after the new year... we just have too much going on right now. Last week my baby girl turned 7 years old! Wow! I can't believe she is growing up so fast... we had her birthday party on base at the bowling center and we all had a great time! She also received her level one green belt in Tae Kwon Do! Woohoo! My little miss kick butt is really putting that title to good use!  Hubby also got a job offer (without even having put out his resume yet!) he was contacted from a potential employer via his linked in profile and was told that they were very interested in having him work for them, he also mentioned that with his skills and knowledge he would make a valuable addition to their company! The job is in Omaha Nebraska! LOL! I the first thing I asked the hubby was... do you know how cold it gets there? For those of you that don't know... he HATES the cold! Me? I either way I can take it or leave it, I can tell you this... I'd rather put up with -40 degrees than sweat my ass off like I have been down here in the summer humidity for 4 years! You can just take only so much clothing off! Anyway, I am excited and just ecstatic that hes getting offers without even trying to put himself out there already. Unlike with PCS'ing its hard not knowing where we will be going in less than 90 days and it's VERY hard not to put the cart before the horse so to speak and stop my addiction of watching house hunters and looking on century 21 and remax LOL! So to take my mind off of things, I have thrust myself into cleaning and purging the house of things we don't want anymore and baking! Yes, baking... it's been intense! When I'm stressed I bake LOL! So for now that's where I am and making the most of it. I hope you all have an amazing Christmas/Holiday and all the best for a Happy New Year! Until next time... here's a few pics of things going on lately. :)

Just look at that face! That is the face of one happy kid!

Our little monster high princess on her birthday! (We had a monster high party theme...of course!)

Doesn't my hubby make a most excellent princess? LOL!

Kicking White Belt Goodbye and Saying Hello to Yellow Belt!

The munchkin had her first ever Tae Kwon Do test this weekend on Saturday and it was amazing! She has been practicing for weeks and she has been doing Tae Kwon Do for a little more than a month now. Over these past few weeks she has worked hard on memorizing her moves in class twice a week, at home, heck, I think the kid is even practicing in her sleep! She has been thoroughly enjoying going to Tae Kwon Do and she loves her master and her new friends shes made in class.

This weekend happens to be our famous "cruisin the coast" weekend here in Biloxi and since traffic is notoriously horrible during this event we decided to leave quite a bit early to make it to her test on time. Well, we ended up being almost 45 minutes early (mostly because I drove the back roads) but it ended up being a good thing since she got to see what it would be like to test when it was her turn, she also got to cheer along a few of her friends from class as well.

They started testing the white and yellow belts around 11:30 and she was more than eager to get started. They lined everyone up and started out with some exercises. Then they all sat down and called them up by names in groups of 3 to test forms first, then contact skills, floor drills, finally escape drills. She rocked all 3 categories and I couldn't have been more proud! She will be receiving her yellow belt at her first belt ceremony on this Thursday and I dunno who's more excited me or her!?! LOL!

Here's some of the pics I took during her test; because yes... I am that PROUD mom :)

Lining up and getting ready to test!

Just look at those faces filled with anticipation!

Serious moves!

Perfect outer form block!

Setting up for her jumping front kick!

Amazingly perfect crescent kick!

Escape drill testing.

Oh yeah, nobody attacks me and gets away with it! ;)

Little Miss Kick Butt!

The kiddo decided she wanted to start doing something different for her "fall sport", and until soccer starts up in January/February. A few weeks ago she had come home from school with a paper that said they were holding registration for cheerleading, she showed me the paper and asked a few questions and then quickly decided that just wasn't for her... no offense to any of the little cheerleaders out there, but she IS a tom boy... and anything that has her jumping and throwing a pom-pom just isn't gonna cut for her lol! So she then asked, if there were any other sports going on that she could play until soccer season starts. I then told her I would look and find out if I could find something she would be interested in and was old enough for, and then I had an epiphany! I suddenly remembered my "gold" card of awesomeness tucked away in the back corners of my wallet, the card that allows us to do a crap ton of activities on base for free! Yes, I got one of those handy dandy "Play Passes" while hubby was deployed and since I spent most of the deployment in Florida (away from any base) I didn't get a chance much to use it... until now! So I went straight over to the youth center last Friday and signed her up straight away, and wahla! She started class on Monday! She LOOOOOOOVED every minute of it! And shes surprisingly awesome at it... what kid wouldn't want to jump, run, kick, punch and then yell on top of that LOL! Of course her dad and are are elated that she's doing another sport that we both played as well. So she is now taking Tae Kwon Do at Tiger Rock Academy by Master Calhoun on base!!! Here's just a few pics I took from her first class on Monday! She is just too awesome!!! Love my little kick-butt-towski!
