30 Days of Books: Day 12

Day 12 – A book or series of books you’ve read more than five times

I think its a little obvious by now but, just in case you missed it... its the sookie stackhouse series by Charline Harris. I just really love how she writes! And if I haven't mentioned it a half dozen times I love the cast of characters. It's also the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling... these books had me at "the boy who lived"... there is just something truly awesome about the stories. And like I said before, I am so sad that they have come to an end.

30 Days of Books: Day 11

Day 11 – A book that disappointed you

This book surprised me in not so good ways. Charlaine has never disappointed me until I read this book. I felt like maybe it was rushed? It just didn't make a whole lot of sense to me..
I felt like alot of the side plots were just jumbled up without alot of follow through and I was a bit confused at the end. I am hoping it was just a fluke... and that her next book will amaze me like they normally do.

30 Days of Books: Day 10

Day 10 – A book you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving

Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophia Kinsella. I picked this one up last year while at the airport for just plane reading... I had a HUGE 4 hour Delay in Atlanta and my flights were at least an hour each so I figured I'd better pick up something to pass the time with. I was actually surprised that I liked this book because these are not typically the kind of books I like, only because shopping as in clothes shopping is not a big part of my life.. I'm just not really into designer stuff. However the main character was cute and made me laugh with alot of the senarios she went up against. :)

Book Review: Peppermint Twisted by Sammi Carter

Paradise's local artists are up in arms when wealthy Felicity Asbury names herself director of the annual arts festival. But she soon gets her just desserts. Abby finds Felicity dead in Divinity's parking lot--an awl lodged in her chest. And when evidence points to Abby as the suspect, she must put aside her sweet making for sleuthing to discover who was twisted enough to do the deed.

Peppermint Twisted was kind of a slow read for me. It just didn't hold the same finesse as Sammi Carter's other books in the series. I also realized the killer within reading just the first half of the book. I also didn't really care for the way the murder victims or the murderer's tied together in the end. I guess its just because her other books sorta blew me away with the ending. I was happy with the climatic ending though. In my honest opinion the book is good and I'm still glad I read it, I just think its a little on the boring side, so my star rating for this is a 3 outta 5. :)

30 Days of Books: Day 9

Day 09 – Best scene ever

LOL! Well that's easy for me... there are several "steamy scene's" in my favorite book
Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris that involve a certain viking vampire... but my favorite by far is a certain shower scene! And is incidentally why I love books... because your imagination can run away with them ;) LOL!

The Good News and The Bad News.

Hi guys sorry to leave you in the dark about what happened at my doc appointment... I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off all day today. The good news... I got a job! YAY! Finally! Its part time, about 26 hours a week which suits me just fine. I wanted to ease my way back into working seeing how I haven't done it in at least 3 1/2 years. ;) And its a Monday thru Friday kinda job so I'm happy for that. So scrubs will once again be part of my life. YAY! That is pretty much the reason I have been running around like a nut. Trying to find new scrubs... apparently I have put a little weight on since I last worked because all my extra small to small scrubs are just not cutting it, I've had to upgrade to mediums LOL!

Now on to the bad news...

I am having to seek a second opinion about what my doctor told me on Wednesday. I went in for my follow up appointment with Dr. "X" and he gave me an exam while I was there, which in itself was a rushed nightmare... he seemed to busy to even give me some sort of lubricant! I have never felt so uncomfortable in all my life! And after my exam he simply said my cervix was small but not bad enough where it would cause me trouble. However, seeing how they couldn't do the HSG because of the cervix he is wanting me to have a different test done. Those were his exact words. The "test" he had in mind is not a test but SURGERY! Its called a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, its basically where you go in the OR, get put to sleep so they can make 2 incisions. One near your belly button and one in the pubic area. Then they put a camera inside to take a look at the cervix, ovaries, uterus and uterus lining while putting dye inside of you, to make sure you have not blockages. I honestly don't believe this is truly necessary, I understand that he is trying to "investigate" but there is nothing in my blood test or hormone levels to even suggest that I have PCOS. I also have no abnormalities or pain during ovulation or any of the classic "symptoms" of infertility. I honestly think he's drawing a conclusion where there is none. What I would like is for him to try some meds on me, let us continue "trying" for a while and see where that gets us. If by the 6-9 months I am not pregnant, and they still cant figure out what's wrong... then by all means poke and prod away. I am not blind to the fact that there "might" be something wrong with me, I just dont think that surgery should be the first option. I also think the HSG would be easily done if he were to just dilate my cervix before the exam, this is VERY common among women with my problem. I honestly dont mind having the HSG done... Id take that over surgery any day of the week. The bottom line is its my body and I will NOT have unnecessary surgery for "investigative" purposes at this time... I will seek another doctor's opinion before I EVER go back to see Dr. "X" again, that is if I ever see him again. So what do you guys think? Am I totally wrong? Would you let Dr. Quack do the "exploratory" surgery on you without any indications that there is something wrong? Or do you think I'm right in finding another doctor to seek a second opinion?

30 Days of Books: Day 8

Day 08 – A book everyone should read at least once

I have a few...

First would be The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I loved this book, it was a real "eye opener" and it tugged at my heart strings in all the right ways. I dont want to give away to much but just give it a chance, I dont think you will be disapointed.

Second is Eat, Prey, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert I loved this book too... its an amazing soul searching journey kinda story. And anyone who has ever felt "lost" at some time or another would love this book.

And then last is Where the Heart is by Billie Letts. This one I read over and over... its just an over all good story of a girl who made it despite everything she has been through. Its another tear jerker :)

30 Days of Books: Day 7

Day 07 – Least favorite plot device employed by way too many books you actually enjoyed otherwise.

Hmmm... that's kinda tough, just because I read books regardless if I love or hate them. I kinda force myself to keep reading, refusing to believe that it sucks and trying to be optomistic in telling myself, this is gonna get better by the next chapter LOL! Butttttt... if I had to say it... it would be the whole "Vampires vs. Werewolf's" thang... its ok, we have all read twilight and a few other choice books where the conflict is apparent but the battle is getting old now!

And since were on the subject, Id say Im about sick of "love triangles" too... even if its clear on who REALLY loves who.

Feeling kinda down...

Its almost 9pm here and can I just say for the record that I am little nervous freaking out about tomorrow. Its my follow up appointment with infertility doc. I think its just all hitting me... I think I am frustrated beyond belief that I still don't know what's wrong with me. I am sad, because I feel like my AF is just around the corner, and pessimistic about also not accomplishing anything at tomorrows appointment because he will want to wait till next cycle to try anything... yup, that means waiting another month. With my birthday right around the corner all this just brings me full circle to square one. I wish I could just hold my breath or stand on my head until I get pregnant... at this point I'd probably believe and try just about anything! I am truly just irritated at this point! The worst part is feeling all these "symptoms" when I know its just that big fat negative test I'm going to face next week. I am so beyond sick of testing! And let me just say its getting expensive! I seriously think that sam's club should stock their shelves with these and ovulation kits! Ive got the perfect spot too... right in between the trojan condom's and the prenatal vitamins they have stocked. Agggggh! Ok now that I've got all that out... I feel better. I seriously hope tomorrow goes well but I really have my doubts. Its just getting harder and harder for me to stay positive... I feel like every time I get to see just a hint of light at the end of the tunnel, I get mowed down by some stupid train. :( So to be continued tomorrow...

What's on my phone Tuesday!

Its TUESDAY! Already! Where has the week gone?! It seems like Tuesday's always sneak up on me! Sneaky Sneaky Tuesday! I am happy to report that I have a job interview today its just a part time job, but hey its something! With the kiddo starting kindergarten in the fall I figure its time for me to start doing something again besides the laundry and housework... or at least until I have another baby. And speaking of babies... I have my follow up doctor appointment tomorrow to go over our other "options" as he put it... since the HSG didn't exactly go as planned. I am kinda dreading it because I know he wont actually DO anything till my next cycle! I HAAAAAAAATE having to wait that long! And in the mean time I will uncontrollably drive myself nuts deciding if I have gotten pregnant this month or not. Have I mention how infertility has turned me into a giant basket case? Ahhhhg! Anyway... So here is my "What's on my Phone Tuesday" and as always please link up with Jessica @ The Lowe Family News. :D

My mini teenager... I could swear she is 5 going on 15!

Her blog is awesome and she has amazing recipes! I have seriously book marked so many that I need to start cookin! LOL Anyway mine didn't turn out as pretty as Jenn's but they still tasted awesome... I just figure with more practice they can look a bit better ;)

This would be the sweet little delectable known as king cake! Well, a mini version of it! Real king cake is usually huge and meant to be shared its also stuffed with beads, coins and babies... yes babies! LOL! Its a tradition around here in "Cajun country". I really love all the traditions around here at this time of year! I cant wait for the parades to start in a few weeks! Oh and NOLA for my birfday!

Swagbucks! Oh why do you tease me! I love the fact that I get these swag bucks but it seems to take FOREVER to actually save up and get anything worth while... I want the $5.00 amazon gift card but man its taking me forever to get it! Anyone else have this problem? Anyone else have any idea's on how I can get more swag bucks? Cause 8 a day just isn't cutting it! I am impatient LOL!

30 Days of Books: Day 6

Day 06 – Favorite book of your favorite series OR your favorite book of all time

My absolute favorite series by Charlaine Harris: The sookie stackhouse novels or The Southern
Vampire Series. I love everything about these books! I love the way they are written, I love the
cast of characters, I love the suspense, I love romance and my god do I love me some Eric Northman! He just happens to my favorite (viking) vampire and I sure do pledge my love to the sherrif of area 5. I started reading this series waaaaaay before "True Blood" came out on HBO, and while I am happy with the series, I wish they could stay a little more faithful to the books...t he books are so much more amazing than the show. :) I just wish Bon Temps was a real town I could go visit with all my favorite "friends":)

30 Days of Books: Day 5

Day 05 – A book or series you hate

I think that would have to be a tie between the "Evernight" series by Claudia Gray and the
"Vampire Diaries" by L.J. Smith... I read both of these as suggested reading and I couldn't
hate them more... Evernight seemed to me like just a generic version of the Twilight series, different cast of characters but same kinda story... I hate books that do that.. Vampire Diaries had me disappointed because I watched the show before I read the books and the show seemed alot more mature than the books are, I get it... is meant for teenagers and it takes place in high school but the characters are very childish in my opinion.

30 Days of Books: Day 4

Day 04 – Your favorite book or series ever.

I have two... and neither one is better than the other in the same sense that I could pick
a favorite kind of chocolate lol! They are Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse Novels or AKA. "Southern Vampire Mysteries" and J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter Series! I love these books so
much! I have every book in the series and I would be seriously lost with out them... I read them over and over sometimes I finish the book, other times I just read my favorite chapters or parts of the books. I dunno what it is about them that I'm so addicted to but I am. I am sad that J.K Rowling ended the HP books I wish it could go on forever... I'd like to see what Harry and his friends are like later on in life and if they have children what those children would be like. And I think that if Charlaine ever ends the Sookie books I will cry! No, seriously I will! They are that awesome!

Oh and just as a side note... I have Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire which I bought in London when I was there in 2000, and it DOES vary just a little. Not the actual story just the language... its my also favorite book to read out of the series.
